Chas. Aldrich Esq.

Webster City

Iowa

Sir

Yours of 15th inst. past recd –    Maj. Lauman of Burlington has had authority to raise an independent regiment & is now calling for companies.  It will probably be filled up from the south part of the state.  There should be one regiment from the north – and I intend to get authority if I can to raise such a one.  In which case you guys from Wright, Hamilton, Webster & Hardin can have a chance in.

Very Respectfully,

Your obedient servant

Wm Vandever
