Remarks: The Busch Zouaves where organized in April of 1883 in St. Louis by beer meister Adolphus Busch.  Mr. Busch served as the militia company’s President and generous patron.  Busch organized national and world tours, taking the Zouaves to Germany in 1886 to demonstrate their drilling techniques.

This pitcher was won by the St. Louis Busch Zouaves in the Zouave drill competition at the National Military Encampment in Dubuque in June of 1884.
